The last year has certainly been both interesting and distracting, as you can probably tell from that year-long gap between the post at the end of 2015 and the post about updating the website a few weeks ago. With 2016 out of the way, I’m making a proper effort to keep the blog updated, so look forward to posts with more regularity.
When I started writing the outline for Gambit of the Glass Crowns, an idea popped into my head: if I reached fourteen chapters, I had accomplished something. I don’t know where the idea came from or why fourteen was the magic number, but the fourteenth chapter was my first big milestone. Several milestones—and six years—later, I find myself with seventy-three chapters written in two books and a respectable amount of progress made in the third.
I moved twice in the last year, most recently at the end of December, but now that I’ve settled into my new place, the third book is coming along pretty well. I spent most of my time last year writing pages of fleshed-out notes and the outline for the book—I wrote the basic, overall outline of the entire trilogy in 2009, modifying it here and there along the way. Now, I have a handful of chapters finished, and a few chapters started on top of that.
As an aside, I’ve also been jotting down notes for a new book. It’s still in the ideas phase, so nothing to report on it yet, but I’ll be sure to post more information in the future.
Stay tuned for more updates, and if you have any questions for me, feel free to ask either in the comments below or through the contact form.
